To mark World Population Day on July 11th 2018, the State Minister for Finance Planning and Economic Development in charge of Planning, David Bahati addressed Parliament on July 19 2018 on population issues. The ministerial statement forecast the Ugandan population to grow to 40 million by the end of 2018. This growth is attributed to high fertility rates and increased life expectancy, prompting the question how is the country mitigating against the challenges to realize the opportunities presented by this population growth?
