Gender Based Violence is a term used to describe any harmful act that is perpetrated against a person’s will on the basis of unequal relations between women and men, as well as through abuse of power. It takes many forms including, physical violence, psychological and emotional harassment, deprivation and even harmful cultural practices. Some forms of gender-based violence such as domestic violence are on the increase according to the 2017 Annual Police Crime Report whereas reported cases of defilement and rape have fallen. The same report indicates that securing convictions remains a challenge this is despite advocacy efforts in response to Gender Based Violence which aim for greater accountability. What progress is being in addressing Gender Based Violence?
