There are 27 top positions from the Vice Chancellor to the principals of the colleges. All the 27 are occupied by men. Can this be a fair society? It is not. This according to the Tuesday, November 20 2018 Hansard; was the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga’s reaction to news that Makerere University had appointed two male Deputy Vice Chancellors. In her view these appointments failed to recognize the role of women and therefore contravened the Constitution of Uganda. To this end the Speaker tasked the Committee of Education to take interest in the matter to address the apparent lack of equity. Are women equally represented in leadership?
